Best places to visit in Italy
Italy is an amazing country, with its history, art and culture, so it’s not surprising that it’s one of the most visited countries in the world. It can be difficult to choose a single place to visit, especially if you are planning a brief trip. In this article we will try to list some of the best itineraries and cities you can visit in Italy.
Cities you can’t miss
When you think about Italy, probably the first city that comes to mind is Rome. The capital of Italy is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, with its monuments and ancient history. If you are planning a trip to Italy, you cannot miss Rome. The best way to visit the city is to book a tour with a travel agency, possibly one that organizes tours in Rome and other cities. One excellent example is Romecabs, which offers private tours from Rome to Pienza. Pienza is a stunning town, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1996, located in the middle of Tuscany and its pittoresque hills. Most of the town center is a perfect example of Italian Renaissance art. Nothing better than a trip from Rome to Pienza to better understand the duplicity of Italian landscapes: on one hand, Rome with its nightlife and tourism, on the other, the silence and colors of Tuscany hills, with Pienza and also Montepulciano, home of amazing vineyards.
Other cities you should check out are Florence and Venice, but also Naples and Palermo. Each of these cities has a different “spirit” and atmosphere, and each one will fascinate you.
Islands in Italy
In Italy there are two major islands, Sardinia and Sicily: both of them have the best sea you can find! Cliffs or white sand, these two islands will offer the best sea experience in Italy! Apart from those two, Italy has a lot of smaller islands: maybe the most famous of them is Capri, which together with Ischia, Procida, Nisida and Vivara forms the Campanian Archipelago.
There are also the Aeolian Islands, near Sicily, which are volcanic islands with black sand. This archipelago is quite interesting if you like adventure and trekking. Also in Sicily, the Aegadian Islands will offer a marvelous sea, but also some history: on some of the islands there are Neolithic and even Paleolithic paintings in caves you can reach with a guide.
